The notion of genuine love is what I think about when I think about the love established with my daughter and I. The notion of sacrifice when one chooses to become a parent is not a new one. Most prospective parents understand that good parenting involves sacrifice that will minimally require unconditional love, sacrifice, time, money and mentoring. While financial stability and flexible lifestyles are contributors to good parenting, perhaps another essential ingredient is what I call ‘Genuine Sacrifice’. What is the Genuine Sacrifice? I believe it is a sacrifice parents make that will positively impact the social and moral development of their child. It is parents committing to a lifestyle and exhibiting behaviors they want their children to adapt. We as parents must teach our children that there are no entitlements for them. They must work hard based on merit for success. We do not genuinely sacrifice for recognition, we do it because we enjoy it and it’s what we are supposed to do!

Hello My name is Sonya Whitehead I am a sacrificing parent. I sacrifice what I need to sacrifice for my nine year old daughter Manaysia Hendricks.   Here are three ways you can be a sacrifing parent:

1.  Allow the result of your sacrifice to have a lasting positive affect on your child.
2.  Let the sacrifice you are making to align with your core beliefs and values.
3.  Enjoy making the sacrifice.

Are you a sacrificing parent? If so how? What do you feel makes you a sacrifing Parent?
